His account

Under interrogation, Odo said his brother, a student in Awka, the Anambra State capital, was murdered some time ago, and that their mother died shortly afterwards. He confessed to being a member of the Vikings confraternity and said he had vowed to avenge his brother’s death.

He said that last month he learned the alleged killer was living in Ile-Ife. Acting on that information, he travelled from Anambra and was heading to Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, where the man is said to reside on the school premises, to attack him.

His plan ended when police stopped the bus and searched him. He told officers he bought the pistol from a farmer for N20,000.

Odo has since confessed to travelling to the state to carry out the attack. A video of his interrogation has been shared online.
