The Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has maintained that Governor Hope Uzodimma remains its candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections, despite a Federal High Court ruling in favour of former governor Rochas Okorocha.

A Federal High Court in Abuja had on Thursday declared Okorocha the winner of the APC senatorial primary for Imo West. The court also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise him as the party’s candidate for the district.
The judgment followed a legal dispute between Okorocha and Uzodimma over the party’s ticket for the senatorial seat.
Jones said Uzodimma won the primary with “the overwhelming support of the majority” of party members, and that the party would not accept the court’s decision without review.
“His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, remains the candidate of our party for Imo West Senatorial District,” the statement said.
The APC said its legal department would study the court’s judgment and take appropriate action. It also urged members and supporters to remain focused and continue working for the party’s victory across all constituencies in Imo State.
