Announcing his exit in a Thursday, May 22 statement through his Media Adviser, Sunday Areh, Omo-Agege said extensive consultations with close political allies and grassroots supporters had led him to conclude that both his political prospects and the welfare of his constituents stood a better chance outside the ruling party.

Writing directly to the APC Ward Chairman of Orogun Ward 2, Ughelli North Local Government Area, the former Delta Central senator pulled no punches: “I will not remain a sitting duck in a party where I cannot advance the interests of Delta Central, Delta State and Nigeria.”

Omo-Agege, who rose to become Deputy President of the 9th Senate, acknowledged the party’s role in shaping his political career and expressed gratitude for the platforms it provided him over the years. He has also formally requested that his name be struck from all APC membership records and communication channels.

Despite his departure, the lawmaker pledged unwavering dedication to the people of Delta Central, vowing to remain a visible and active voice in Nigeria’s political landscape — just from a different platform.
