The Presidency has maintained that President Bola Tinubu is capable of running Nigeria from any part of the world, dismissing concerns over his prolonged stay abroad.

In a statement issued on Sunday, September 27, by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the Presidency said the President does not need to be physically present in Abuja to carry out his duties and assured the public that he is in good health.

The clarification follows mounting public scrutiny and criticism from opposition figures over Tinubu’s extended time overseas after his three-week official leave ran out.
“Nigeria’s President is hale and hearty. He has been on a working vacation, which he is perfectly entitled to,” Onanuga said. “In this digital age, he does not need to be physically present in Abuja to do the work for which he was elected in 2023.”
He added that the President has continued to work while away, pointing to meetings with investors in France and, most recently, his role in facilitating a $7 billion deep-sea port project at Ogun Waterside, an initiative of the Ogun State Government.
