Nigerian dancer and entertainer Iweh Odinaka, widely known as Poco Lee, has spoken publicly for the first time about the legal case he’s currently facing in the United Kingdom, saying his belief in his own innocence kept him grounded throughout the ordeal.

He made the remarks during a video conversation with social commentator VeryDarkMan, who posted the footage to Instagram on Sunday, September 13. Rather than dwelling on the allegations themselves, Poco Lee said his focus during the period was on the people around him and the businesses tied to his brand. “I was just being myself; God sees my heart. My only worries were about my people: Jago could not do anything business-wise; I didn’t want to stress anyone,” he said.

He added: “If I were inside there and I did what I was accused of, I would have felt I was paying for my sins, but since I knew I didn’t do what I was accused of, my mind is pure. Nobody would have wanted to associate themselves with something like that, but Burna Boy stood by me, Jago, and some of my other guys.”
VeryDarkMan echoed his support for Poco Lee during the conversation, raising questions about how reports of the situation had circulated online. He also acknowledged the backing Poco Lee has received from singer Burna Boy and social media personality Rahman Jago.
Conflicting reports, but CPS confirms case is active
The comments come as conflicting information has circulated online regarding the status of the UK case. Some reports claimed Poco Lee had been released from custody, while others suggested the complainant had withdrawn or that the matter had been resolved out of court. However, the Crown Prosecution Service has confirmed that the case remains active.
A CPS spokesperson confirmed that Odinaka is still scheduled to appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court on September 15, 2026, for a Plea and Trial Preparation Hearing (PTPH) — a pre-trial proceeding focused on the defendant’s plea and preparation for trial. “This case is still live, and Odinaka is still set to appear for a PTPH at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 15 September 2026,” the CPS said. The CPS did not clarify whether Odinaka is currently in custody or has been released on bail.
Odinaka faces five sexual offence charges in the UK: one count of attempted rape, two counts of rape, and two counts of assault by penetration. The case reportedly arose following his trip to the UK for the Davido and Friends concert at Crystal Palace Bowl in London on August 14. Snaresbrook Crown Court had previously confirmed the case was listed for a plea and trial preparation hearing on September 15.
The court has also imposed a reporting restriction under Section 1 of the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992 to protect the identity of the complainant.
Poco Lee has denied the allegations against him. The charges remain before the court and have not been determined — he has not been convicted of any offence.
