Arise Television anchor Rufai Oseni has cautioned President Bola Tinubu to tread carefully in his political alliance with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, suggesting that the former Rivers State governor could publicly disclose details of their political dealings should the relationship sour.

Oseni made the remarks on a broadcast of The Morning Show, reacting to comments Wike made during a media chat in Port Harcourt. At the event, Wike said he would face political victimization from opposition figures — including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi — should President Tinubu fail to secure re-election in 2027.

Responding to Wike’s comments, Oseni questioned why the FCT Minister would express concern over possible retribution if he was confident in the legitimacy of his past political conduct. He pointed to Wike’s actions as governor during the 2023 election cycle, when he was accused of restricting Atiku’s campaign activities in Rivers State, as well as unresolved controversies surrounding the state’s election tally reporting at the time.
“Why is Mr. Wike afraid today? Why is he afraid that if Atiku Abubakar gets in, he’s going to be witch-hunted?” Oseni said.
“Is it because he used his high-handedness as governor to ensure that Atiku did not campaign in Rivers State? Mr. Wike, why are you scared? If you are proud of your actions, you should not fear a witch hunt.”
“The day he falls out with President Tinubu, this Wike will talk. It is the height of delusion for President Tinubu to think that whatever agreement he has with Wike, if they are no longer together, Wike will not talk.”
