US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested a 49-year-old Nigerian national, Etinosa Osahon, on charges tied to identity theft and financial crimes.

Osahon was taken into custody in Los Angeles on May 21 and is currently detained while awaiting deportation proceedings.

“Osahon’s criminal record includes stealing and being in possession of stolen mail, bank fraud, and aggravated identity theft,” ICE said in a statement, adding that he remains in custody pending removal.

The arrest is part of a wider crackdown by US authorities on foreign nationals with criminal histories. Last month, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers also detained another Nigerian citizen, Olatunde Olusanjo, on separate charges, with deportation proceedings similarly underway against him.

The back-to-back arrests underscore the Trump administration’s intensified push to deport non-citizens with criminal records, as immigration enforcement agencies ramp up operations nationwide.
