Court: evidence was overwhelming

The judge held that the prosecution’s evidence was overwhelming and proved beyond reasonable doubt that the defendant intentionally stabbed his friend to death.

According to prosecution counsel Esther J. John, the defendant stabbed Momohjimoh Abduljafar with a sharp object on June 6, 2025, at GKAS Hotel in Okene, and the victim died as a result. In his ruling, Justice Hussein rejected the arguments made by defence counsel Baba Shehu Ahmad and imposed the death sentence.

Reactions

Esther John said she was satisfied with the judgment, adding that justice had once again been served, and she commended the judge for the ruling. The family of the deceased also said they were satisfied with the outcome.

Defence counsel Baba Shehu Ahmad said he would appeal after studying the certified true copy of the judgment.
