Command spokesperson DSP Henry Okoye disclosed this in a statement, adding that investigations are continuing to establish the circumstances of the killing and to identify everyone involved.
Commissioner convenes security meeting
After the incident, Commissioner of Police CP Audu Garba Bosso held a strategic security meeting on Sunday with area commanders, divisional police officers and tactical team commanders. The meeting assessed the security situation and looked at ways to strengthen operations across the state.
It ended with directives to operational commanders to step up intelligence-led operations, carry out targeted raids on identified criminal hideouts, reinforce patrols in security hotspots and respond quickly to emerging threats.
Appeal to parents and the public
Bosso also directed closer collaboration with community leaders, youth groups and other stakeholders to improve intelligence gathering and prevent further violence. He urged parents and guardians to keep track of their children’s activities and associations and to discourage them from joining cults.
He called on members of the public to promptly report relevant information to security agencies, warning that anyone found responsible for cult-related violence would face the full weight of the law.
Police said the arrested suspect remains in custody while investigations continue and efforts to find the second suspect intensify.
