The Savannah Regional Police Command has arrested two persons in connection with the alleged mob k!lling of a young man at Daboya in the North Gonja District.

The deceased, identified only as Yibonwura, was reportedly attacked and severely beaten after being accused of stealing shea nuts, injuries from which he later died. The assault was captured on video and subsequently circulated widely on social media.

In a statement dated August 26, 2026, the Savannah Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police David K. Amoako, confirmed the arrest of two suspects in connection with the incident. The suspects were identified as 25-year-old Adjei Abdulai, a carpenter, and 22-year-old Issah Mahama, a student.
Police said the pair were arrested as part of ongoing investigations into the alleged att@ck and remain in custody assisting with inquiries. The Command has also launched a manhunt for a third suspect believed to have been involved in the incident.
The Ghana Police Service said investigations are continuing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the victim’s death and to identify all persons who may have been involved in the alleged crime.
