A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti has ordered the remand of a couple, Lamidi Salau, 67, and Lamidi Aina, 65, over their alleged involvement in the killing of 25-year-old housewife Kehinde Omize.

According to earlier reports, Kehinde was allegedly hacked to death by her husband — a meat seller identified as Sadiq Ibrahim — during a domestic dispute in the Dalimore area of Ado-Ekiti. The suspect, known locally as “Alfa Eleran,” is said to have attacked his wife with a machete during a heated argument, even as family friends were present attempting to mediate their marital dispute. He remains at large.

The two defendants now in custody were remanded at the Correctional Facility in Ado-Ekiti on allegations of conspiracy to murder and murder.
Prosecutor ASP Akinwale Oriyomi told the court there was probable cause to remand the pair, along with the deceased’s husband, over their alleged roles in the conspiracy and killing of Kehinde Omize. According to Oriyomi, the offences are punishable under Sections 244 and 234 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti 2021, and were allegedly committed within the Ado-Ekiti Magisterial District on September 9, 2026.
The defendants’ pleas were not taken, though they were represented in court by counsel. In his ruling, Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun granted the prosecution’s application and ordered that both be remanded at the Correctional Facility in Ado-Ekiti.
