A Federal High Court in Lagos has granted Nollywood actress Doris Ogala bail in the sum of N30 million with two sureties in like sum over alleged cyberstalking and other offences involving Pastor Chris Okafor.

Justice Akintayo Aluko granted the bail on Friday but ordered Ogala to surrender her international passport to the court registrar. The judge also stopped her from making electronic publications that could intimidate, harass, threaten or ridicule prosecution witnesses.

The court said the conditions were meant to protect witnesses and preserve the integrity of the trial while also respecting Ogala’s right to liberty. Justice Aluko said the defendant remained innocent until proven guilty under the Constitution.
The judge expressed concern over Ogala’s alleged conduct during proceedings on October 28, 2026. He said her behaviour disrupted the court sitting and forced an emergency adjournment of 10 cases. The judge said the actress had apologised for the conduct but noted that it showed she could cause trouble outside the courtroom.
The prosecution had opposed the bail application, alleging that Ogala failed to attend earlier court proceedings on April 23 and June 9, 2026, claiming she was ill. It presented evidence it said showed her attending political activities, public gatherings, campaigns and protests during the period she claimed to be sick.
The prosecution also argued that the allegations against her involved the use of social media to publish and spread electronic materials that formed part of its evidence. It said this raised concerns that she could interfere with witnesses if released.
Ogala’s defence told the court that the offences were bailable and that she would not commit another offence, interfere with witnesses or run away from trial. Her lawyer, Marshal Abubakar, said she had been receiving treatment at the General Hospital in Ajegunle after undergoing gynaecological surgery that caused bleeding.
Justice Aluko said the main purpose of bail was to ensure that an accused person appears in court for trial. He said the court had to consider the facts of the case and exercise its discretion carefully.
Under the bail conditions, Ogala must provide two sureties in the sum of N30 million each. One surety must either own a property in Lagos State with verifiable registration documents or be a prominent national officer of her political party or a reputable public figure.
The sureties must live within the court’s jurisdiction, be verified by the court registrar, submit tax clearance certificates for the last three years and provide two recent passport photographs each.
The court ordered that Ogala should be released immediately after she fulfils all the bail conditions.
