A spokeswoman for the US Bureau of Prisons confirmed the move to AFP on Friday, saying the 56-year-old was transferred from Fort Dix in New Jersey to Allenwood Low in neighbouring Pennsylvania.

Both facilities are low-security federal prisons for male inmates, but Allenwood Low is considerably smaller, housing about 1,000 inmates compared with roughly 4,000 at Fort Dix. The Bureau of Prisons did not give a reason for the transfer, saying it does not discuss conditions of confinement or reasons for moving any individual in its custody, citing privacy, safety and security.

US media reported that Combs was treated at a hospital for a head injury after a fight with another inmate last weekend. In September, reporters also reported that he enjoyed a comparatively comfortable lifestyle at Fort Dix, including access to contraband mobile phones and alcohol, with other inmates allegedly cooking and cleaning for him and providing massages. None of these reports was addressed in the Bureau’s statement.

Combs was sentenced in 2025 after a high-profile trial in which prosecutors detailed alleged “freak-offs”, sexual marathons involving hired male escorts and his former girlfriend Casandra Ventura, along with another woman who was not named. A jury acquitted him of the most serious charges, sex trafficking and racketeering, but convicted him on two counts of transporting people across state lines for prostitution. He is due for release in March 2028.

What is confirmed so far
The only confirmed facts are the transfer itself and the facilities involved. The Bureau of Prisons has not linked the move to the reported fight or the alleged special treatment, so any connection between them remains unestablished. The claims about contraband and privileges come from media reports, not from official findings. Further details may emerge if the Bureau or Combs’s representatives comment.
