The operation was triggered by a tip-off from a concerned member of the public, prompting officers to move to a location in Igbariam, where they found the young mother and her infant.

Preliminary investigations showed that the woman had concealed both her pregnancy and the subsequent delivery from her parents. She had reportedly left her family home in Imo State and taken refuge with a friend in Igbariam, where the alleged plan to sell the baby was uncovered.

Acting swiftly, police operatives contacted the woman’s parents, who responded promptly and travelled to Igbariam. The mother and child were then reunited with the family to ensure they received proper care, supervision, and emotional support as investigations into the matter continue.

Authorities have not disclosed whether any arrests have been made in connection with the alleged plot, as police continue to piece together the full circumstances surrounding the case.
