Yahaya Bello Announces Bid for Kogi Central Senate Seat in 2027

Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has thrown his hat into the ring for the Kogi Central Senatorial District seat in the 2027 general elections, setting up a potential showdown with incumbent Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

Bello made the announcement during a courtesy visit to the palace of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland. He addressed traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other stakeholders from the district, accepting calls from supporters to run for the Senate. “I accept to run for the Senate in 2027,” he declared, affirming his readiness to represent Kogi Central in the National Assembly.

Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo joined the event, along with various political leaders and community representatives.

Bello governed Kogi State from 2016 to 2024. The seat is currently held by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who secured it in the 2023 elections.
