The wife and three children of a former Commissioner of Education, Abubakar Daja, have died in a road traffic crash along the Mokwa-Bida Road in Niger State.

The accident occurred on Sunday, August 23, 2026, when a Mazda vehicle conveying Hajia Daja and her four children from Minna collided with a Sienna bus on the highway, according to reports.

Only one of the four children on board, a teenage girl, survived the crash. She sustained severe injuries, including a broken rib and a fractured shoulder, and has since been hospitalized for treatment.
The remains of the deceased have been buried in Kutigi, headquarters of Lavun Local Government Area of Niger State, in accordance with Islamic rites.
