President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm Christmas greetings to Christians in Nigeria and around the world, reiterating his dedication to promoting religious freedom and peaceful coexistence among all citizens.
In a message shared on his official X account, Tinubu expressed gratitude to God for the privilege of leading the nation and prayed for harmony among Nigerians of diverse faiths.
On this Holy day, I wish all Christians in Nigeria and across the world a Merry Christmas. I thank God for the opportunity to serve as the leader of our great country, and I pray for peace in our land, especially among people of different religious beliefs,” he wrote.
“I remain committed to ensuring religious freedom in Nigeria and to protecting Christians, Muslims, and all Nigerians from violence.”
The president tagged several local and international accounts in his post, including that of former U.S. President Donald Trump.
Tinubu’s message follows heightened international scrutiny of Nigeria’s security situation and religious tensions, sparked by recent comments from Trump alleging a “Christian genocide” in the country. Nigerian officials have repeatedly dismissed such claims, insisting that the country’s security challenges affect citizens of all faiths.
The president also shared excerpts from his 2025 Christmas goodwill message, in which he called on Nigerians to embrace peace, patience, and unity throughout the festive season.
