The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, has said President Bola Tinubu has performed better than every other democratically elected president in Nigeria’s history.

Morka made the assertion on Monday during an appearance on Channels Television, where he defended the Tinubu administration’s record and its economic policies.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has outperformed any president in his first term. He has outperformed any democratically elected president in this country in their terms,” Morka said.
Pressed to name specific indicators backing the claim, the APC spokesman said the evidence lay in the country’s current economic situation.
“The indicators are res ipsa loquitur, as we say in law; they speak for themselves. This president inherited an economy that was completely in a mess,” he said.
Morka attributed the state of the economy Tinubu inherited to what he called failures of previous administrations, singling out the 16-year rule of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that preceded the APC’s emergence at the federal level in 2015.
He described former President Muhammadu Buhari as a “stopgap” leader whose role was to stabilise the country rather than transform it.
“Buhari was a stopgap president that really came to keep the country from tipping over the precipice — from 16 years of horrific maladministration of the PDP government,” Morka said. “President Buhari served his term, did his job to hold the country still for President Tinubu to enter.”
The APC spokesman further argued that Tinubu’s economic policies had steered Nigeria away from severe hardship, pointing to what he described as improvements at the macroeconomic level. He said the impact of the administration’s reforms was becoming visible even to some of its critics, adding that the country had “come out of the woods” macroeconomically as a result of the government’s policies.
