Rwanda has publicly thanked Russia for its support to ongoing efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
During a meeting on the sidelines of the Russia–Africa Partnership Forum, Foreign Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe underlined Kigali’s appreciation for Moscow’s backing of regional and international initiatives seeking a political settlement to the crisis.
The gesture comes as diplomatic pressure mounts on all actors involved in eastern DR Congo, and underscores Rwanda’s bid to diversify its partnerships and elevate Russia’s role in regional peace and security discussions.
