Rivers community deserted as cultists kill 19 residents

A fresh cult conflict in Obelle Community, Emohua Local Government Area, Rivers State, is said to have killed at least 19 individuals on Sunday.

Residents have fled the neighborhood in fear of their safety as a result of the development, which has caused panic in the area.

After more than two years off, the two local cult groups returned to their struggle for dominance on Sunday morning, while the town was still in shock over the incident.

It was learned that the Deybam and Icelanders cult organizations were engaged in a dominance war on Sunday.

According to information obtained by our correspondent, the group whose members were killed on Sunday attacked the Obelle hamlet following the Wednesday death and began murdering family members of individuals thought to be affiliated with the cult that had previously murdered seven people.

According to a local source who only wanted to be identified as Kingsley, the rivals showed up while the organization that lost members on Wednesday was still in operation.

Cultists clashed in our town on Sunday, Kingsley claimed. There have been numerous fatalities. People who were innocent were killed. People began to leave the town because the gunfire was too much. There have been roughly 19 fatalities.

Some cultists emerged and began firing on Sunday morning. They were assaulting family members of those they claimed were part of the gang that murdered their members. The other group emerged without any delay. They began shooting themselves. Both groups also lost members.

“We are requesting assistance from the government. The goal of these cults is to disperse the members of our community. We want the army and police to support us.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the state police command, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident, saying the clash was linked to levies from an oil company in the area, saying the number of casualty was 10.
