The Anambra State Government has arrested a Pentecostal pastor in Onitsha over a wave of serious allegations that include luring married women away from their husbands, forcing church members to swap wives, and harbouring infants he could not account for.

Pastor Harrison Charles Anazodo, who leads Day Spring Assembly in Awada, Onitsha, was picked up on Friday, June 12, 2026, by operatives of the Agunechemba security outfit following the viral spread of videos containing multiple damning accusations against him.

Among those levelling allegations against the cleric are men who identified themselves as members of his congregation. They accused Anazodo not only of enticing their wives away but of compelling some of them to exchange spouses entirely. More troublingly, security operatives discovered approximately 11 babies in his possession at the time of his arrest — none of whom he could explain.
In videos circulating widely on social media, an unidentified woman alleged that the pastor had married as many as 75 wives, taken other men’s spouses, wed underage girls, and used charms to manipulate his congregation.
“It’s important now that Governor Soludo is arresting fake pastors, to quickly launch an investigation into the church because a lot of evil is going on,” the woman said in one of the clips.
Dr Ejimofor Opara, Special Adviser on Media to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, confirmed the arrest, disclosing that Anazodo is currently being investigated jointly by the police and the state government.
Dr Opara also urged members of the public with relevant information about the pastor’s alleged activities to contact the Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Security, Ken Emeakayi.
