A Nigerian feminist has sparked public debate after declaring that she would rather abstain from voting entirely than obtain her Permanent Voter Card to cast a ballot for any male candidate.

The woman, whose identity was not disclosed, said she is firmly opposed to voting for men, arguing that male leadership is at the root of virtually every crisis confronting nations across the globe. She further claimed that countries currently led by women are, without exception, performing well.

While she insisted that women would willingly queue at polling booths if a male candidate demonstrated genuine capacity to improve a nation, she alleged that the same cannot be said for men. According to her, many male voters would sooner endure economic hardship, insecurity, and the policies of President Bola Tinubu than cast their ballot for a female candidate — driven, she claimed, purely by deep-seated hatred for women.

The activist went further, accusing women of cheerfully deferring to men despite what she described as the naturally matriarchal order evident in nature and the animal kingdom. She argued that where male leadership is considered necessary at all, men ought to occupy subordinate roles and take direction from women.

She also lamented that misogyny remains deeply entrenched, not only in Nigeria but across the world, calling it a systemic problem that continues to deny women the political power she believes they deserve.
