Ms. DSF explained that raising children comes with real financial responsibilities, including meeting their basic needs. She argued that people should be able to provide for their children before deciding to have them, rather than starting a family while they are still struggling to support themselves.
Poor people shouldn’t have kids. I don’t think it is fair to the children. It is not fair to the family. It is not fair to you. I have a cousin that has five kids and she has been broke since she had the first one
Why do you have five? Every week, she is requesting for financial assistance for school fees, feeding. It is so unfair. Why have kids when you don’t have means to sustain them? It is not fair,” she said.
Ms. DSF also disclosed that she grew up in a humble home but had resolved not to raise her own children under similar financial circumstances.
She urged people planning to become parents to consider their financial capacity and ensure they can adequately provide for their children.
