Results announced by the Chairman of the APC National Governorship Election Committee, retired General Jon Temlong, showed Hamzat commanding an overwhelming majority — securing 657,917 of the 657,974 accredited votes cast. His only remaining challenger, Lanre Jim-Kamal, managed a solitary vote, while a third aspirant, Samuel Ajose, had stepped down before voting began.
Declaring the outcome official, Temlong stated that Hamzat had fully satisfied the requirements of the party’s constitution and was duly returned as the APC’s candidate for the 2027 contest.
In his acceptance remarks, Hamzat was effusive in his gratitude, singling out Governor Sanwo-Olu for his stewardship of both the state and the party. He also extended appreciation to members of the National Assembly, the Governance Advisory Council, and President Bola Tinubu.
“With humility, I accept the candidacy of the APC in the upcoming 2027 elections,” Hamzat said, signaling his readiness for the campaigns ahead.
