Zarah Abubakar Shehu, a 21-year-old student at the Federal University Gusau in Zamfara State, has died in captivity four months after she and her two siblings were kidnapped.

Early on Sunday, November 3, 2024, armed gunmen abducted Zarah, a 300-level student, from her house in Gusau’s Damba neighborhood.

Following discussions, the kidnappers agreed to accept N10 million instead of their original demand of N35 million for their release.

But after demanding four motorcycles (Boza) and four cartons of engine oil in exchange for Zarah’s release, the kidnappers refused to let her go.

The items were finally secured after months of efforts to meet the demands.

When the kidnappers’ leader was informed, he contacted his men, who then revealed that Zarah had already d!ed and was buried two days earlier.

The deceased was the only daughter of her mother
