Drawing on his experience as a former governor and now as a minister, Wike said performance in public office depends largely on the level of support a public officer receives from the President. He disclosed that he regularly asks his wife to keep praying for the continued backing of President Tinubu for the FCT Administration.

“I’ve said to so many people, I was a governor, and I was a minister before. You can be a minister… you see, if you don’t have that support, it is difficult for you to perform. You must have that support.”

He admitted that each day he wakes up, he tells his wife, who prays a lot, to keep praying, explaining that he does not know how to pray very well and that the only best prayer he can pray is for God to let him come back safely.

He added that because his wife prays very well, he tells her to continue to pray that the President will not look away from them.

“And that’s why, each day I wake up, I tell my wife—she prays a lot, I don’t know how to pray very well. The only best prayer I can pray: ‘God, let me come back safely today.’ But she prays very well. I say, ‘Continue to pray that Mr President will not look away from us.’”
