Bayelsa police command confirms de@th of young girl in hotel room

The Bayelsa State Police Command has confirmed the death of a young girl whose lifeless body was discovered in a hotel room in the Igbogene area of Yenagoa, the state capital.

According to local residents, the deceased had checked into the hotel with a young man suspected to be an internet fraudster, commonly referred to as a “yahoo boy.” Eyewitness accounts suggest the man left the hotel shortly after they checked in, leaving the girl behind.

The hotel management reportedly found the body of the young woman hours later and promptly alerted authorities at the Igbogene Divisional Police Headquarters.

Following the report, police officers arrived at the scene and evacuated the body to a nearby mortuary. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer for Bayelsa State, DSP Musa Muhammad, said the case is under active investigation.

“We received the report yesterday, though no arrest has been made for now, but investigation is ongoing. We are making serious inquiries to ensure that the culprits are brought to book. Also, autopsy would be ran on the deceased body to ascertain the cause of the death,” he stated.
