Omoyele Sowore, presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) for the 2027 election, has declared that he would never travel outside Nigeria for medical treatment if elected president.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Sowore said that if he becomes president, any illness he’s unable to treat within the country should be allowed to take his life rather than have him seek care abroad.

He also made clear his stance on avoiding what he described as bringing “family liabilities” into government if he wins the presidency.
“Any sickness that I can’t treat in Nigeria when I become president should better kill me. I can tell you that for free,” Sowore said. “I’m not bringing family liabilities back to Nigeria. There is no office of First Lady in the Nigerian Constitution. Becoming president will not abolish my marriage, but I will not have the office of First Lady.”
He added that while women’s voices would be heard under his administration, he does not believe the country needs a First Lady occupying what he called an unconstitutional position and diverting funds meant for progress and development projects.
