A Delta Police PRO responds to a widely shared video purportedly showing a police officer arresting a woman for “indecent dressing.”

The Delta State Police Command spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, has reacted to a video that went viral showing a police officer harassing a woman and arresting her for wearing indecent clothing.

The officer is seen pushing the woman, who is dressed in a black top and white shorts, into a police van. Given that the command had declared plans to start arresting people who are dressed indecently, some Nigerians thought the officer was arresting the lady for indecent clothing.

The video also shows the woman’s friend, who was in a shirt and shorts, attempting to prevent the officer from making the arrest.

Edafe responded via his X handle, claiming that the woman was not arrested for wearing indecent clothing because there was no evidence of this in the video.

‘’There is no reason to believe that this is as a result of indecent dressing. Lets ask ourselves, why is the other lady not being harrassed? Any difference in their dressing?”
