After making an impassioned plea in court, a defendant who was charged with incest got three shirts from the Mombasa judge overseeing his case.
Senior Principal Magistrate Vincent Adet gave Richard Christopher Odhiambo his clothing when he showed up in court on Wednesday, October 5, wearing a shirt that was damaged.
By a few moments of quiet, Odhiambo, who was speechless after the surprise, regained his courage and thanked the Kenyan judge for the kind act.
All I can say is “may God bless you” since I am unable to talk. I’m grateful. He said in a trembling voice, “Asante sana,” and then looked at the other suspects while trying not to cry.
However, the magistrate rejected Odhiambo’s request to have his case relocated to Kisumu.
Adet stated
“I thus reject one of your requests to have the case moved to Kisumu so that you may see your family conveniently. However, I have granted your second request for clothing, which is a fundamental requirement, and I have purchased a couple items for you.
Odhiambo is being imprisoned at the Shimo La Tewa GK jail on incest-related allegations after failing to raise the bail required for his release.
