Police in Phuket, Thailand, have arrested a 36-year-old Nigerian man on suspicion of possessing cocaine for distribution. The Cherng Talay Police carried out the arrest on Thursday, November 5, 2026, after officers allegedly found the man in possession of the drug and items linked to packaging and sale.

During the operation, officers said they seized approximately 7.3 grams of cocaine, classified as a Category 2 narcotic under Thai law. They also recovered 257 plastic bags believed to be used for packaging, two digital scales, two mobile phones, one sedan, and other items connected to the alleged offence.

The combination of cocaine, plastic bags, and digital scales is often treated by investigators as evidence that drugs may have been prepared for sale rather than personal use. The number of packaging bags and the presence of weighing equipment can be particularly important in determining the nature of the alleged offence.
The two mobile phones and the sedan were also seized as part of the operation. Such items may be examined as part of the investigation to establish whether they were used in communication, transactions, transportation, or other activities connected to the alleged drug distribution.
The man has been charged with possessing a Category 2 narcotic, cocaine, for the purpose of sale without a licence. The charge indicates that authorities are treating the case as one involving alleged drug distribution rather than simple possession.
After the arrest, the suspect was handed over to investigators for further legal proceedings. That means the case is expected to move through the normal investigative process, during which authorities may review the seized evidence, examine the phones, verify the suspect’s account, and prepare the matter for prosecution.
