General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has said that God has already determined who will lead Nigeria after the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at a workers’ meeting held at Redemption City along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Saturday, the cleric expressed his conviction that no amount of political maneuvering or human scheming can override divine will when it comes to selecting the country’s next president.
“The one who owns the universe has already made His choice on who leads this nation next,” he told attendees.
While stressing the importance of citizen participation in the democratic process, Adeboye maintained that the final outcome would be determined by a higher authority. He cautioned against the misconception that his remarks implied political disengagement. “I am not saying we should stay out of politics — what I am saying is that at the end of the day, God has the final say over the affairs of men,” he clarified.
The cleric encouraged Nigerians to approach the political season with calm rather than anxiety, urging them to pray, remain peaceful, and fulfill their civic duties.
On a separate note, Adeboye addressed recent descriptions of him as the father of Nigerian Christians, firmly distancing himself from that characterization. He maintained that his calling is specifically to shepherd the RCCG, and that the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) holds the broader mantle of leadership over Christians in the country.
He also denied that the RCCG maintains any partisan ties to the ruling All Progressives Congress, reaffirming the church’s independence and its history of speaking candidly on issues such as economic hardship and leadership failures.
Adeboye added that should CAN call for a peaceful protest over pressing national concerns, he would not hesitate to lend his support and presence.
