Bianca Ojukwu Promises to Promote Nigeria’s Interests Globally

Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu has expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu following her appointment as Nigeria’s new Minister of Foreign Affairs, vowing to champion the country’s interests globally.

Taking to her verified X account on Thursday, the newly appointed minister described the role as both a privilege and an opportunity for deeper national service.

She confirmed that the appointment was made on April 29, 2026, by President Tinubu, and did not hold back in expressing appreciation for the confidence placed in her.

“I am very grateful for your trust in me,” she wrote, addressing the President directly.

Odumegwu-Ojukwu outlined her priorities, stating that her tenure would be guided by Nigeria’s 4D Foreign Policy framework under the Renewed Hope Agenda, with a particular emphasis on strengthening citizen diplomacy.

She also made a firm pledge to Nigerians, assuring them that advancing the country’s national interests on the international stage would remain at the core of her work.

Her appointment follows the resignation of former Minister Yusuff Tuggar, who stepped down from the position to pursue the Bauchi State governorship race ahead of the 2027 elections.
