President Bola Tinubu has named Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Nigeria’s new Minister of Foreign Affairs, replacing Yusuf Tuggar who resigned to pursue the 2027 elections.
Dual Diplomatic Shakeup
Odumegwu-Ojukwu, previously Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, steps into the top role. Tinubu also nominated veteran Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye from Kogi State as the new Minister of State, pending Senate approval; Enikanolaiye served as Presidential Senior Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs and held key postings in Addis Ababa, Belgrade, Ottawa, London, and New Delhi.
Strategic Foreign Policy Pivot
With over 30 years in diplomacy, including as Permanent Secretary, Enikanolaiye bolsters the team. Tinubu aims to enhance efficiency, economic diplomacy, regional stability, and Nigerian interests abroad through these changes.
