The African Democratic Congress (ADC) insists it will field candidates in the 2027 general election, undeterred by the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) decision to derecognize its leadership amid a court-ordered crisis.
On Channels Television’s Politics Today Tuesday, ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi declared: “One thing I can guarantee is that we will contest the 2027 election on the ADC platform.”
Abdullahi expressed faith in the judiciary, calling their case a “slam-dunk,” and noted the party’s compliance with INEC notifications for congresses. He dismissed INEC’s shift: “If the same INEC that swore in an affidavit it knew of our leadership change now says otherwise, they won’t stop us.”
Rejecting a boycott—”to boycott is to surrender”—he accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu of plotting a one-party state. “Nigeria will not become a one-party state in our generation. We will resist within the law,” Abdullahi said, adding they aim to block Tinubu as the sole viable 2027 contender.
The ADC remains committed, carrying Nigerians’ hopes for political alternatives.
