NDLEA Busts Major Drug Baron in Bayelsa

NDLEA Bayelsa Command arrested Chimezie Collins, aka Mezico, owner of MEZICO Pharmacy in Yenagoa, seizing a massive illicit drug haul worth N3 million on April 2, 2026.

Arrest Details

Collins, a notorious distributor on the agency’s watchlist for two years, was nabbed along Mbiam-Yenagoa Road, Kpansia. Officers recovered 1,030 tablets of Tramadol (200mg/100mg), Swinol/Rophnol, Diazepam, and Molly—totaling 1,900 caplets—plus 150 bottles of Diazepam/pentazocine injections and 77 codeine bottles weighing 12.461 kg.

Agency Reaction

PRO SN Daniel Obah confirmed the operation, praising the command’s professionalism. State Commander Kanu Sunny Chukwuemeka commended officers, thanking NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa for intelligence-led strategies and Bayelsa Governor Senator Douye Diri for support.
