A senior Nigerian attorney has threatened legal action against Afrobeats star Davido, demanding N1 billion in damages over claims of harassment, cyberbullying, and threats to her life stemming from a high-profile child custody battle.
Ebelechukwu Enedah, who represents Sophia Momodu in her ongoing custody dispute with the singer — real name David Adeleke — over their daughter Imade, issued the demand through a formal legal letter dated February 24. In it, she accused Davido of defamatory conduct that she says severely damaged her professional reputation and made her a target of coordinated online attacks.
Enedah, a partner at PUNUKA Attorneys & Solicitors with over two decades of post-call experience, described the impact of the singer’s actions as “devastating,” citing damage to her practice, emotional distress, and genuine fear for the safety of both herself and her family.
Central to her grievance is Davido’s decision to publicly describe her as “the worst lawyer ever” and share her name online — conduct her legal team characterized not as an expression of frustration, but as a calculated attempt to destroy her reputation for simply doing her job.
The dispute flared following a tense court hearing in February, after which Davido announced on social media that he was withdrawing his custody bid. He had previously accused Enedah of invoking the memory of his late son during proceedings — a move he called a “low blow.”
In the letter, Enedah also stressed that custody proceedings involving a minor should never become fodder for public spectacle or social media commentary, calling for strict boundaries around the ongoing case.
Among her demands, she called on Davido to immediately stop all public commentary related to the matter, issue a formal apology across his verified social media accounts and in at least two national newspapers, and instruct his followers and associates to halt any harassment or intimidation directed at her.
The letter warned that failure to meet these demands within seven days would leave her no choice but to file suit at the Lagos State High Court.
