In preparation for Bola Tinubu’s visit to the state today, December 20, the Borno State Police Command has sent out tactical teams, surveillance squads, and members of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit.
ASP Nahum Daso, the Police Public Relations Officer, revealed the development in a statement released on Saturday, December 20. Daso also announced temporary vehicle restrictions and diversions in certain areas of the state.
He stated:
In front of the President’s visit to Borno State, which is set for today, December 20, 2025, the Borno State Police Command has put in place sufficient security measures.
Naziru Abdulmajid, the state commissioner of police, has created a strong security framework that includes tactical teams, crowd control, surveillance squads, and regular police officers.
Daso further advised residents to expect temporary traffic disruptions, particularly along key routes in the state capital, Maiduguri.
“Members of the public are hereby informed that at intervals, certain roads, particularly the parallel route from Airport Road to Shehu Road, Maiduguri may experience temporary vehicular restrictions or diversions to facilitate the smooth movement of VIPs and ensure public safety.”
Reassuring residents, the police spokesperson said the command remains fully committed to public safety throughout the presidential visit.
“The Command reassures residents of its commitment to the protection of lives and property before, during, and after the presidential visit, and calls for the continued cooperation, vigilance, and support of the public.”
