A woman has shared what happened days after her wedding that made it clear to her that she married the right partner.
Deborah Ocheido took to Facebook to share how her husband put his need above hers. She said that singular incident reassured her that she chose well.
She wrote: “I knew that I married really really well a few days after our wedding. And the reason would shock you.”
She continued: “So a few weeks into our marriage, I made chicken stew. I must add here that I am a fantastic cook. Just saying
“So as we got to the last bits of the stew, two meats were left in the pot. One was considerably larger than the other one. So when I made rice, my husband ate his own and I went to take mine after.
“When I checked the pot, the small meat was left there. I just smiled because I was like ‘so this man likes meat like me and took the bigger one’.
“I just smiled and took the small one. I did not even say anything because it did not even matter . Like it’s just meat. No big deal. I only observed it because like I said, the one he took was way larger than the other one.
“I went to work the next day. My husband was the one that packed my lunch. He had that day off so he was at home.
“I open my lunch plate and I saw that large piece of meat inside my plate. So apparently this man remembered that I was going to work the next day, he took that meat and kept in the fridge for me. And put it in my lunch bag for work.
“So apparently he ate his food that night without meat.
“And this singular act meant so much to me. I saw him for who he was.
“I mean I already knew how kind and selfless my husband was. That’s one of the many reason I married him. I saw the way he took care of his family, I had see him go out of his way to help people. So I knew already.
But I saw him again. I saw a man that would take care of us.
“I saw a man that would think about my tomorrow and make plans for me even when I wasn’t aware.
“I saw a man that would let go of his own pleasure to make sure his wife was enjoying. It was not your typical ‘the biggest meat is for daddy’
“I know it’s just meat. And honestly, it wasn’t about meat because trust me, meat is not one of our prayer requests. God has given us enough meat.
“It was the mindset behind the act.
“One of the biggest blessings God can give you in this day and age is a good husband or a good wife.
“If you have a good, you better be doing thanksgiving everyday.
“To find one now in today’s world you need to have serious connections.”
