Fatiyah Abdulhakeem, an 18-year-old panel beater, has been arrested by the Niger State Police for the alleged murder of Adamu Jagaba, a former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.
The incident occurred on December 7, 2024, at Jagaba’s block-moulding business in Minna, where he was reportedly stabbed in the head before Abdulhakeem stole his car and fled the scene
Witnesses reported that there was no argument prior to the attack. Abdulhakeem had come to Jagaba’s premises to discuss repairs on a vehicle. After stabbing Jagaba, he drove away in the victim’s Toyota Camry, leaving him bleeding on the ground. Jagaba was rushed to a hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival
Following the incident, police circulated details of the stolen vehicle, leading to Abdulhakeem’s arrest later that same day. He was apprehended along Bosso Estate Road while still in possession of the car. During interrogation, he confessed not only to the murder but also indicated that he had conspired with some of Jagaba’s workers to carry out the attack
The Niger State Police have stated that they are continuing their investigation and are working to apprehend additional suspects involved in this crime. Abdulhakeem is expected to face charges in court once investigations are concluded
