In response to the recent student kidnappings, the Federal Ministry of Education has refused to issue a circular mandating the closure of schools across the country.

The ministry called a social media rumor claiming a statewide closure “false and misleading” in a statement released on Saturday, November 22.
It stated that it did not come from any recognized security agency, the Federal Government, the Federal Ministry of Education, or any State Ministry of Education.

Folasade Boriowo, the ministry’s spokeswoman, signed the disclaimer, which advised the public to only trust verified information obtained through official means.
