Police arrest 939 suspects in Ebonyi

According to information released by the Ebonyi Police Command, between January and June 2025, 939 people were taken into custody in relation to a variety of alleged crimes in the state.

Joshua Ukandu, the public relations officer for the state command, stated that the arrests took place in various operations around the state’s 13 local government districts.

Ukandu disclosed this while giving crime statistics in the state to the News Agency of Nigeria in Abakaliki on Tuesday.

He explained that out of the 939 suspected criminals, 887 were males aged between 17 and 60 years.

We have 52 females out of the total arrests and no minors within the period under review.

“Their offences include minor and major crimes such as: Murder, suicide, rape, grievous harm, child stealing, cultism, robbery and house breaking.

He emphasized the command’s dedication to combating criminal activity and enhancing public safety throughout the state throughout the previous six months.

Regarding difficulties, Ukandu stated that there were barriers in the fight against crime, but that the staff managed to get beyond them.

“CP Adaku Uche-Anya, the state commissioner of police, values the cooperation between sister security agencies that has contributed to maintaining the current state of peace in Ebonyi.”

The PPRO added, “We also thank Francis Nwifuru, the state governor, for his support to the command in fighting crime.”
