Actress Peggy Ovire has finally responded to the N100 million demand letter that actor Taiye Arimoro delivered via his attorneys, but she won’t accept any of his narrative.
The actor is misrepresenting the entire episode, according to a response from Peggy’s legal team, which called Taiye’s assertions “misleading, selective, and materially false.”
According to the letter, the issue started when Taiye was asked to return to set, but instead allegedly got into a heated confrontation. The response states that he assaulted the Production Manager, Luke Obayi, before allegedly head-butting Peggy’s driver, Joshua Madu, leaving him bleeding from the ear and nose. Witnesses around the location reportedly gave statements to the police confirming Taiye’s aggressive behaviour.
Peggy’s lawyers also said Taiye tried to flee immediately after the incident, and any attempt to stop him was simply to prevent him from escaping before police arrived. They maintained that Peggy never assaulted him, explaining that the only physical contact was when she “pushed him lightly” after he allegedly attempted to deflate her tyres.
They maintained that Taiye’s Instagram live was an intentional attempt to sway public opinion and that the CCTV footage he posted had been intentionally altered to support his own story.
Talk of mob action, a broken jaw, harassment, or any kind of violence against him was also denied in the letter as wholly untrue. The Actors Guild of Nigeria and the police are already looking into the incident, it continued, referring to Taiye’s demand letter as “premature” and without substance.
Peggy may file her own petitions for assault, slander, and interference with production, according to her legal team, who also rejected the N100 million compensation proposal.
To seal it, Peggy posted on Instagram that her silence should not be taken for weakness, reminding everyone that the investigation is ongoing and the truth will unfold.
