The Ashanti Regional Police Command secured the conviction of 34-year-old Nigerian Beauty Alakwe for harming her nine-year-old daughter in Duase, near Kenyasi, Ashanti Region.
On Tuesday, December 23, 2025, the Tafo Circuit Court in Kumasi sentenced her to 15 months’ imprisonment with hard labor and a 6,000 Ghanaian cedis fine. Unable to pay, she was remanded to Kumasi Central Prisons.
The case stemmed from a November 22 assault reported by a local resident, aided by the area’s Assembly Member. Kenyasi’s District Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU), under the Tafo-Pankrono Division, investigated.
The court ordered the Mamponteng Department of Social Welfare to work with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection for the victim’s welfare and reunification with her nine-year-old brother and family in Nigeria.
Police commended public cooperation and warned against mob justice, reaffirming their dedication to safeguarding children and vulnerable individuals.
