A Nigerian businessman, Ezeokoli Sylva, has been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for allegedly smuggling 700 grams of cocaine concealed in his stomach. Sylva, who had lived in Brazil for 35 years, was apprehended on November 29, 2024, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos upon returning from São Paulo via an Ethiopian Airlines flight.
During a routine body scan, NDLEA officials detected foreign objects in Sylva’s stomach. Following this, he was placed under observation to expel the substances, which turned out to be 29 wraps of cocaine weighing a total of 700 gram
The NDLEA continues to emphasize its commitment to reducing drug supply and demand across Nigeria, with ongoing operations leading to various arrests and seizures throughout the country.
