Major General John Enenche (retired), who claimed that the #LekkiShooting event was “photoshopped” and “edited

In 2020, Major General John Enenche (retired), who claimed that the #LekkiShooting event was “photoshopped” and “edited,” explained why he made that assertion.

In response to criticism on social media for his position on the #LekkiShooting, Peter Obi, the ex-general who compiled the list of the 1,234 members of the presidential campaign council for the Labour Party candidate, said the LP will review the list and provide an amended list in due time.

Enenche addressed the matter in a press statement posted on his official Twitter account, @EnenchejohnEne1, on Friday night. He said that he was forced to admit that the slaughter was staged by an oath of fealty he took when being commissioned into the military.

“Dear countrymen and ladies,” he continued, “there have been comments on social media to my announcement about a video filmed at the site of the #EndSARS incident at Lekki toll-gate on October 20, 2020, after my appointment to the Labour Party’s campaign committee. Based on their own analyses and the facts they had available, everyone who responded in any manner was correct.

Based on the sacred pledge of devotion I took when entering the military service, I labored both personally and professionally with the best interests of Nigerians at heart.

“I genuinely felt the anguish of that breaking news, so to speak, via social media. On that topic, I want to reassure everyone that additional efforts will be made so that any claims may be rebutted persuasively using the proper references. God bless us in our efforts to help Nigeria, our beloved nation, recover.

The PUNCH has covered the responses and complaints that followed his selection for Obi’s campaign team.

Enenche said that he was certain that Obi and his running companion, Dr. Yusuf Datti-Ahmed, would provide top-notch leadership as a result of his desire to ensure that 2023’s elections would produce respectable leaders.

“Recall I stressed the necessity for every Nigerian with a conscience, irrespective of social class, to participate in the present political process in the nation in order to elect credible, competent, and capable leaders in 2023,” he added.

“In addition, I urged everyone to speak out and not remain silent.

“As a result, I was unafraid and without reservation to publicly and impartially endorse the candidacies of HE Mr. Peter Obi and Dr. Yusuf Datti-Ahmed. All of this is based on my knowledge of the pair, which spans roughly 17 years and 5 years, respectively, that they can provide the Nation strong leadership that will ensure follower effectiveness.

He said, “This is what Nigeria needs right now to overcome all the myriad obstacles placed on the populace over the previous 20 years.”

A Twitter user named @anthonyabakporo responded to the news release by writing, “Dear OBIdients, this individual was under authority then. If we are kind to him, we’ll quickly find out who issued that order. Please pardon him; I appreciate his modesty in putting this press release together.

Another user, @Mmadudili, tweeted, “Here’s Gen. John Enenche (ret. ), criticizing poor leadership as a consequence of instability in Nigeria. He continued by endorsing @PeterObi and asserting that no other candidate has shown the ability and preparedness to properly govern the nation. Enough with the extortion attempt on him.
