At least 25 people have been arrested by the Kano State Hisba Board for reportedly planning same-s#x marriages in the city of Kano’s Hotoro neighborhood.
In a statement, which PUNCH Online obtained on Sunday, the board’s deputy commander, Mujahedeen Aminudeen, confirmed the suspects’ detention.
He said the suspects, who included seven women and eighteen men, were captured on Saturday at the Fatima Event Centre along the Hotoro bypass in Kano city.
We learned today, Saturday, October 25, 2025, that some people are supposedly planning same-s#x marriages.
He explained that the suspects, including the groom, who hailed from Sheka, Yar Gaya, Kofar Nasarawa, and other places, were arrested at the event centre.
The Deputy Commander warned that the board would not fold its arms and allow undesirable elements to tarnish the good image and reputation of Kano state.
“We are calling on members of the public to support the board by reporting immoral activities in the state.
“The board will continue to raid such places that promote immorality,” Aminudeen added.
