Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has made history by officially setting the Guinness World Record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style Jollof rice. The record-breaking feat took place on September 12, 2025, at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, where thousands gathered to witness the culinary spectacle.

The event, part of the ‘Gino World Jollof Festival,’ saw Hilda Baci prepare a staggering 8,780 kilograms (19,356 lb 9 oz) of Jollof rice, using over 4,000 kg of basmati rice along with fresh goat meat, chicken cubes, and her signature jollof pepper mix. The cooking took approximately nine hours and consumed about 1,200 kilograms of gas, producing around 16,600 plates of the beloved West African dish.

The celebration attracted notable Nigerian celebrities, influencers, and fans, all eager to taste the iconic dish and be part of the record-breaking moment. Hilda Baci, already renowned for her 2023 Guinness record for the longest cooking marathon, reinforced her status as a leading culinary innovator and cultural ambassador for Nigerian cuisine.

Strict Guinness rules ensured the authenticity of the dish and minimized waste through thoughtful distribution to attendees. This achievement is hailed as a milestone in Nigerian gastronomy and adds to the ongoing “Jollof Wars” debate about which country makes the best Jollof rice.

Hilda Baci expressed pride in the accomplishment, dedicating the record to the people of Nigeria and their shared cultural heritage. This remarkable feat not only cements her legacy but also brings global attention to Nigerian cuisine.
