Fubara on Impeachment: Faith Amid Rivers Tensions

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara addressed the ongoing impeachment proceedings against him by the State House of Assembly yesterday, clarifying his earlier remark about “dogs that don’t understand why they bark.” Speaking at a church service, Fubara urged calm, emphasizing his reliance on divine intervention.

“I know that I have what is supreme and that is God,” he said. “So, I want everyone to relax. What is important is peace for this dear state, and we’ll get it by the special grace of God.”

The governor’s comments came as his predecessor, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, fired back at critics urging President Bola Tinubu to remove him from office. Wike stated that the President would only meet him if he could no longer provide value.

Meanwhile, the Rivers State House of Assembly raised alarms over “secret plots” to illegally obtain court orders blocking its constitutional duties.

Deputy Governor Professor Odu praised attendees at the service, which marked a key event. She echoed the Dean of the Anglican Communion, Archbishop Blessing Eyinda’s sermon, urging good conduct since “every action would be remembered at one time or another.”
