Afrobeats sensation Davido (David Adeleke) has thrown his weight behind politics, announcing his formal membership in the Accord Party on Tuesday via X. The move aligns him directly with his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who recently switched to the party for his 2026 re-election campaign.
Davido plans to collect his membership card Wednesday at Imole House in Osogbo. “I Will be live in Osun to pick up my @AccordPartyNG membership card @ IMOLE HOUSE OSOGBO Tomorrow… see you soon ACCORDINGLY 😇 Cc @AAdeleke_01,” he wrote, tagging the governor (@AAdeleke_01).
This comes just two weeks after Governor Adeleke’s defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). On December 9, 2025, he made the announcement at Osogbo’s Government House Banquet Hall, surrounded by party leaders. Adeleke had cited PDP’s national leadership crisis as the reason, noting he’d joined Accord on November 6 following stakeholder consultations.
Davido had hinted at support earlier, reposting his uncle’s resignation with the cryptic caption “Jeje…”.
